Singalila Ridge Trekking is one of the most admired as well as fascinating treks in India. Originating from the scenic trails around Sikkim, this tour turns toward Singalila which is known for its strenuous routes and finally ends with an enchanting visit to Darjeeling, the Queen of Hills.

Along with fun and excitement of trekking, this tour also provides some of the astounding views of the mighty Mt Everest and Kanchenjunga peaks. Some of the other lofty summits of the Himalayan Range can also be witnessed.

Day 1 – Gangtok to Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station (130 km – 4 hours by road)

With the completion of today’s breakfast, you will be driven towards Bagdogra or NJP Railway Station. With your drop-off, this amazing Singalila trek will come to an end.

Day 2 – Maneybhanjan to Tonglu/Tumling (11 Km trek)

Stiff and Adamant Trails, Trekking through Dense Forests

Even though the terrains of Maneybhanjan appear to be quite challenging, they can be easily surmounted with proper skills and technique. Also, this is the reason, these trekking trails has become of the most sought after destinations for the adventure enthusiasts.

In your Singalila Pass Trekking today, ascending through the rhododendron, giant magnolias, spruce and other forests of Maneybhanjan, you can reach Chitrey. On your way till here, you will also come across several varieties of exotic and colourful species of orchids. Trekking further from Chitrey, you will arrive in Meghma, from where the road divides towards Tumling and Tonglu. While Tonglu falls within Indian Territory, Tumling is a part of Nepal. Post your visit to Tumling, you will guided towards Tonglu; you can have fascinating glimpses of the Mt Kanchenjunga and its surrounding peaks from here. Overnight stay will be arranged in Tonglu.

Day 3 – Tonglu/Tumling to Kalipokhri (16 Km trek)

Trekking Uphill and Downhill, Singlalila National Park, Kali Pokhri Lake

Early morning, after beholding the mesmeric beauty of sunrise over Mt Kanchenjunga, the expedition towards Gairibus will embark. This trek will be a downward trek and after descending 3 hours from Tonglu, you will arrive in Gairibus.

After a short break in Gairibus, the journey will take the uphill direction and passing through the Singlalila National Park, will advent towards Kalipokhri. Singlalila, the highest national park in West Bengal is the home to some of the exotic and rare species of animals. Leopard, Red Panda, Braking Deer and an enchanting list of avifauna can be easily spotted in this park. Trekking further, you will finally arrive in Kalipokhri. Fringed with Buddhist prayer flags, the Kalipokhri Lake offers mystique and overwhelming views.

Day 4 – Kalipokhri to Sandakphu (08 Km trek)

Valley of Poisonous Plants, Panoramic Views, Medical Plantations

Today’s trekking will take you to Beekey Bhanjan or the ‘Valley of Poisonous Plants’. Known for the medical plantations, this region might appear strenuous, but on hiking to the top; Sandakhpu Hilltop, the fascinating views from the peak will surely make you forget the tiredness. Also, the panoramic views of the nearby peaks will at once relish your mind, alluring you to spend some memorable time on the cliff.

Day 5 – Sandakphu to Phalut (18 Km trek)

Mt Everest, Mt Kanchenjunga, Sabarkum, Misty Forests

An early morning drive to Sandakphu will offer you the astounding sunrise views over Mt Kanchenjunga. Post this visit, you will proceed towards Phalut along the ridge of the Singalila Range. While sprawling fir and rhododendron forests add radiance to this trekking route, stunning sights of Mt Everest and Kanchenjunga makes this trek, one of the spectacular trek routes in the Eastern Himalayas.

Upon trekking a total distance of 14 km, you will reach Sabarkum. Here in this junction, you can find a stone house located on the top of a small ridge. Hiking 7 km further, you will finally reach the misty forests of Phalut and can relax against the chilling wind at the higher altitudes.

Day 6 – Phalut to Rammam (15 Km trek)

Streams, Lush Forests

Today in your Singalila Pass Trek, trekking downwards through the lush and dense Chestnut, Pine and Hemlock forests, you will be arriving at the confluence point of the Gorkhey and Khola, two of the vicious streams flowing through this region. Starting from Gorkhey, an 8 km hike will take you towards Rammam village which is enriched with picturesque settings and is known for its agricultural richness.

Day 7 – Rammam to Rimbick (15 Km trek)

Sri Khola, Dense Forests, Orchid Plantations, Colourful Birds

Passing through the dense forests and flat regions of Rammam, today you will be descending to Sri Khola. Surrounded by dense forests, exotic orchid plantations and varieties of colourful birds, this area is named after the Khola Stream. An easy trek from here will finally take you Rimbick; trekking for the day will conclude upon arrival in Rimbick.

Day 8 – Rimbick to Gangtok (130 km – 4 hours by road)

Drive to Gangtok

A pleasant drive through the picture-perfect valleys and spectacular surroundings of Rimbick will take you towards Gangtok, the capital of Sikkim. Once you arrive in this magnificent holiday destination, you will be checked-in into the hotel; overnight stay in Gangtok.

Day 9 – Gangtok

Gangtok Sightseeing Tour

Today a sightseeing tour after breakfast will make you familiar with the fascinating beauty of Gangtok. Along with the local marketplaces and the nearby locales, you can also visit the Tsomgo Lake and Baba Harbhajan Singh Memorial. With the downfall of the evening, you will be driven back to the hotel; overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 10 – Gangtok to Lachung (117 km – 6 hours by road)

Singhik View Point, Seven Sister Waterfalls, Naga Water Falls

After having breakfast in the hotel, you will be driven through the enchanting terrains of Gangtok and taken towards Lachung. En route, you can also visit Singhik View Point, Seven Sister Waterfalls and Naga Water Falls. Upon arrival in Lachung, you will be checked-in into the hotel; overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 11 – Lachung to Yumthang (11800 ft.) – Lachung (Approx 24 Km each way)

Valley of Flowers, Interaction with the Locals

Today, while on an excursion trip to the ‘valley of flowers’ or Yumthang, you can witness several species of rare and exotic species of flowering plants. Following this visit, you can visit the Hot Spring and with the advent of afternoon, you can interact with the local people and visit the local marketplace. You will be driven back to the Lachung before it gets dark and temperature begins to fall; overnight stay in the hotel.

Day 12 – Lachung – Gangtok (117 km – 6 hours by road)

Bheema and Twin Falls

Post breakfast, following the same trails and terrains, you will be driven back to Gangtok. On the way, you can visit the Bheema and Twin Falls. Arrival in Gangtok will be followed by checking-in into the hotel; overnight stay in the hotel.
