Biksthang is Situated in South Sikkim and is close to Rinchenpong, Chemchey, Namchi, etc. The small pristine hamlet is also known as Chuchen and Mangalbaray. The region experience Himalayan type or High Mountain type of climate. Low temperature, high rainfall on windward slopes, comparatively dry on the leeward side, and heavy precipitation in the form of snow at the top of the mountain are the main features of Sikkim climate. The climate of Biksthang situated at an elevation of nearly is pleasant. 4100 feet has an annual rainfall of nearly 3000 millimeter and the temperature ranges from as low as 04°C in winter to about 30°C in summer. Summer is only one month. Biksthang offers a very nice climate with a serene and calming effect. The destinations is right for nature lovers.

The place directly faces Ghangchhen mZho Nga (Khangchendzogna), the guardian deity of Sikkim, which is the repository of five treasures, symbolized by the five peaks of Mt Khangchendzogna, Mt. Gabur Gangtsen (Kabru), Mt. Pandim, Mt. Narsing and Mt. Simvo. Major sightseeing area nearby are many. Namchi, Pelling, Rabangla are nearby. Two best are Pelling and Rinchenpong, Hee Bermiok & Chaya Taal.  While visiting Rinchenpong, a visit to the Poison Lake is a advisable. Just opposite to the pond, one can find a stony staircase leading towards the forest trail that leads to Rinchenpong Monastery. The Monastary was built in 1717. The monastery houses an idol of Ati Buddha in the position of Yub-Yum. Some other nearby attractions are Lhentse monastery, Rahu Ney (Caves) and Phursachu (Hot Spring). Guests can enjoy boating and river rafting at the nearby dam, Angling and birding is also an option. Village tours are the best way to enjoy the area. It is more a leisure tour destinations and guests will be away from the crowd.

One can visit Biksthang any time of the year but to savor the best views of Mount Kanchenjungha, the ideal time of visiting the place is from November to March. Biksthang is situated between Jorethang and Legship hence it is nearly 05 – 06 hours drive from Siliguri & Gangtok. The nearest major railway stations is Jalpaiguri Railway Station (NJP) which is 04 – 05 hours drive and is approximately 124 kiloemeters. The nearest Airport is Bagdogra Airport (IXB) nearly 122 kilometers. Nearly 122 kilometers via Rabong & 117 kilometers via Jorethang nearly 04 – 4.5 hours drive by road. Arrangements to provide pick up service from New Jalpaiguri or Bagdogra is available.  Biksthang is also well connected by motorable roads. You can drive from Siliguri through Teesta to reach Melli. Then take a turn towards Jorethang and instead of turning toward Darjeeling, drive further to reach this beautiful destination in West Sikkim. Gangtok is nearly 120 kilometers from Gangtok. Pelling is nearly 50 kilometers and Darjeeling 70 kilometers by road.
