Covered with many pretty plantations and famous for its Mechuka Valley, Along is a beautiful town that glows with natural beauty.

Along will offer you a quiet, pristine and refreshing experience with simple and subtle tourist spots including the widespread plantations and Mechuka Valley essentially defining the area, cross breeding farms such as the Mithun and Jersey Cross Breeding Farm, the Hanging bridge made of cane and bamboo over river Siang, tribal villages such as Tapi and Dark etc. Other attractions here include the Ramakrishna Ashram, Kamki Hydropower Dam as well as activities such as trekking, river rafting etc.

What’s Great?

It is an offbeat destination, hence the surroundings of this town is pure and free from human interference. The place is clean and filled with fresh air.

 What’s not so Great?

There are not many tourist destinations. The place is still an up and coming tourist location so it does not have any major facility.

For Whom

The place is meant for either young group of friends or a couple. The place can be very adventurous with friends. River rafting, trekking and hiking is something that attracts young generation over here. It is not ideal for a honeymoon but for a couple vacation or short trip. A romantic getaway for two days into the arms of nature.

Itinerary

Day 1 – Start your day with the most famous dishes here, Momo and Thupka. Momo is a famous dish amongst Tibetans and is a must have over here. Then you can start your day by visiting the Ramakrishna Ashram. You can see how cultures mix with tribal learning English. Then you can visit the Darka Village and get lost in the beauty. You can also visit the Donyi Polo Temple. In the evening. you should definitely visit Patum Bridge and get mesmerized.
Day 2 – You can choose to do river rafting or trekking. The hills and forests are wild and unexplored so you will need the proper gear to trek and camp. River rafting is also a tourist attraction in Along.

Restaurants and Local Food in Along

The essentials of the cuisine in this district of West Siang are Momos and Thukpa which are widespread in the town and are an almost staple item. Along with this, a local platter will include rice, meat, fish and a preparation of fresh vegetables. One can also sip into a local beverage called Apang which is the state’s version of rice beer.
